Initiated to bring the influence of her design to light, this 2013 curatorial installation showcased the work of Deborah Sussman, the designer, with her partner, instrumental in the look of Los Angeles during and after the 1984 Olympics. Projections were layered over graphic elements while sonotubes from the Olympics created a monumental presence alongside a display vitrine. This allowed for Sussman's work to be displayed in a manner both cost-effective and invoked her use of brave color. This exhibit was part of an ongoing effort to re-examine contemporary environmental design and the impact it had on Los Angeles in particular. The installation was also a celebration of supergraphics as an inexpensive but effective way of transforming a space, both in Sussman's work and as a greater tradition in the Los Angeles lingua franca, from billboards to bus wrappers.
